## EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

**Market presence.** 68 advertorial landing pages from **43 unique brand domains**. Median campaign runtime **107 days**; longest-lived advertorial in the corpus is **245 days**. 38/68 (56%) qualify as 90+ day long-runners — advertorials persist, they're not just experimental.

**The compliance time-bomb (headline finding).** Gemini's Phase-2 classifier rated:

- `low` — **8 LPs** (12%)
- `medium` — **19 LPs** (28%)
- `high` — **40 LPs** (59%)
- `critical` — **1 LPs** (1%)

Only **8/68 (12%) sit in the compliant zone**. Every other advertorial in the corpus carries Meta / FTC enforcement exposure ranging from sponsored-label burial to fabricated medical claims. The five largest advertorial advertisers each have **zero low-risk LPs** — they are running entirely on aggressive disguise.

**Disguise mechanics.**

- **84% (57/68)** of advertorials have **no visible 'Sponsored' label at all** — direct FTC §255 native-advertising exposure.
- **38% (26/68)** contain a fake or unverifiable expert quote.
- **13% (9/68)** contain a fake comment section.
- **12% (8/68)** display a credible 'As Seen On' bar (real outlets).
- **51% (35/68)** funnel to a separate product/checkout page (true 'advertorial → product page bridge' pattern).

**The strategic read.** Advertorials in this corpus are a high-ROI / high-blast-radius bet. They generate long-running campaigns and concentrated ad volume, but they're built on stacked compliance risks. A single Meta-policy or FTC enforcement wave would obliterate ~85% of advertorial inventory simultaneously — and the brands most exposed are also those with the most ad spend on this format.


## DATA FOUNDATION

This section is intentionally surfaced so future readers can audit the inference layer.

**Cohort definition.** An LP is classified as advertorial if either (a) Phase-1 Gemini set `lp_type='advertorial'`, OR (b) the Phase-2 capture features flagged `is_advertorial=true`. Off-topic ebook / novel ads (read-tapread-com, fb-346-880-h5-novel-master-com, non_pillow_advertiser-flagged) are excluded — see [outputs/lp_follow_up_audits.md](lp_follow_up_audits.md). After exclusion: **n=68**.

**Caveat 1.** 8/68 advertorials have `ad_message_match = 0` (i.e. no linked ad analysis to score against). Median match is computed only over the 60 scored.

**Caveat 2.** Reach / impressions are unobservable in Meta Ad Library, so `days_running` is the only longevity signal with usable spread. All survival comparisons rest on it.

**Caveat 3.** Gemini's risk classification is the model's best judgement on each LP at the moment of capture. Risk levels are not legal opinions — they're operational signals. A 'high' rating means the page contains elements that historically trigger Meta policy reviews or FTC §255 attention; it does NOT mean an enforcement action has occurred.
